Rubicon

If the Capstone hires the Dark Lord to lead its minions in conquest against the rest of the Nation, any remaining fealty I observe to the tribe of my forefathers may be forfeit forever. I now may sit in some self-deluded tension in a twighlight of Vandy-UT-Alabama allegiances, but the advent of the Dark Lord in Tuscaloosa would destroy any semblance of balance in the universe. I would even forsake my mother.

Sorry, Mom.

Sheesh!! $3 million per year. Do they know how many zeros that is?

Give the search committee my name. Make sure you spell it right. D-U-T-R-O.

And the great thing is, even if you go 0-12 and they fire you, YOU STILL GET PAID, like $65,000 a month until the deal is done. I'll take the humiliation of a firing with that kind of parachute.....

Cutcliff would be the righteous choice, but when did the Cap deal with righteousness.

Let us name the reasons that Alabama won't hire the offensive wonder, David Cutcliff:

Ole Miss rejected him.

He is a UT assistant.

Do you really think the Boosters want Ole Miss's scraps from under Phil's table?

If UA hires Rich Rodriguez or Frank Beamer, I will be satisfied and will not sever the last, tenuous tie.

SS to JRB:

"I am your father."

Don't worry, RR comes before SS.

I hope it is not the ole ball coach. I think he is all about Steve Spurrier. My choice is RR.

ROLL TIDE!

P.S. I wish Ozzie would come back and be our coach.

Though I have not "dog in this hunt" I am going to, at least partially, toss my lot with Mom/K/Grammy. While I have been among the Spurrier haters in the past, my vitriol towards the man has lessened during his tenure at SC. This softening has come abut mostly because I am starting to think that that his pigskin brilliance has been too highly regarded. As the UNC basketball fans recently shouted at the formerly #1 ranked Ohio State... "O-VER-RA-TED!!!". I cast the same aspersion in Spurrier's direction. JRB, I don't think that Spurrier is worth the hate with which you flatter him or his designation as the Dark Lord. I am not sure, however, who does deserve such a designation. Perhaps I am just being contrary.

Having said that, I wholly support your extinguishing of affections with the blood red tide especially if they were to make the silly decision to hire Spurrier. Sorry Grammy!!

How to Win Friends and Influence the Inlaws, by Mom/K/Grammy.

Step 1: Keep hammering, bashing, and belittling the head football coach at inlaw's alma mater....

I'm a Big 12 boy living in Big 10 country. No worries here. Just having a little fun with you! We love you, K.

The Mountain Girl had her effect on me, but she's pretty much a converted Vandy fan these days, which is a lovely thing to share. Nothing to bind a marriage like a shared martyrdom in futility and blind optimism.

Go Gators.

G0 GATORS!?!?!?!?!?!

Are you serious?!?!?!?

Has the law addled your mind?

I thought we were of one accord when it came to the Penninsula and Golden State teams. I thought we were of the same mind. Do not sell your soul to the reptilian demons out of some misplaced loyalty to the SEC. While the states of the Big 10 may have stood against your Ancestors in the War of Southern Aggression, I beseech you not to hold this against the valiant Buckeyes.

I take all of my previously stated contrarian views back. Steve Spurrier is the dark lord, he is deserving of your loathing. I take it all back but please do not sink into the swamp.

Eric, let the goodness that is the Big 10 wash over you like a cleansing flood. Be free from all of your Big 12 baggage. Revel in the pure light that shines from the inappropriately names Big 10.

Kile,

I am pulling for the alligators because a national championship in the conference benefits my school.

Let me be clear, I am corrupt and amoral in this decision. I hate Florida. I will pull for Florida because if they win a national championship, Vandy gets more money in its coffers, more presitge for recruiting, scheduling benefits and other intangibles that promote improvement in the program. As the SEC dominates the land, even our bottom tier football programs, Vandy, MSU, etc, benefit immensely.

I like Ohio State and Jim Tressel better than I like Florida and Meyer. I think OSU has class, and Tressel is a godly man who wears sweater vests and ties. What's not to like? I love him.

I love Vandy more.

I once knew a man who stood by a roadside waiting for the Devil. When the Devil arrived that man sold his very soul for the ability to play a guitar.

He told himself that it was a fair trade because his soul wasn't doing anything for him at the moment and he would be able to make lots of money and support his family.

That man died in a ditch and was eaten by cats.

JRB, I need you to understand how strongly I feel about your flirtation with the dark side. I would rather you name your male child "Coach Mike Krzyzewski Duke Is The Greatest Team Ever Baker" than sell your soul to the Reptiles for 30 pieces of silver.

There is time yet to repent.
